A charming Mid Century Italian Murano glass vase dating to circa 1960s. The hand blown vessel has an elongated oval body, short cylindrical neck and neatly rolled rim.

The softly translucent white glass body is formed with pronounced vertical rigadin ribbing, a traditional Murano technique in which the molten glass is blown into a ribbed mold. Colorful millefiori murrine are scattered around the lower portion, including small floral, star and geometric motifs in red, blue, green, yellow and violet. A thick clear glass casing adds depth to the white interior and magnifies the individual murrine.

The compact scale and restrained use of color give the vase a particularly appealing modern quality. It is unmarked, and the Murano attribution is based upon its glassmaking techniques, materials and construction rather than a documented manufacturer.

An elegant antique European mercury glass lamp body dating to the late 19th century. The graceful baluster form features a rounded base, elongated neck and dramatically flared rim, all resting upon a raised circular foot.

The silvered glass surface is decorated with hand etched grapevines, leaves and scrolling tendrils encircling the lower body. Fine horizontal bands accent the neck and foot, while the gold colored interior of the flared rim creates a warm contrast to the time softened silver exterior.

Authentic oxidation, mottling and areas of silver loss give the glass a beautifully aged appearance characteristic of antique mercury glass. A central opening extends completely through the base, indicating that the piece was originally made or later adapted as a lamp component. It is not suitable for use as a water holding vase, but it makes a striking decorative object or an exceptional foundation for a custom lamp restoration.

The piece is unmarked and is believed to be Continental European, possibly Bohemian, circa 1890s.
